Christmas Music Post
Noise of Choice: Marilyn Manson - This is Halloween
Some musical brain bleach to get rid of all those horrible icky-sticky Christmas carols played in every mall and store across half the world - a small part of my alternative Christmas music collection - though, fair warning, some of these might be equally bad. XD
Personal favorites:
John McDermott - Christmas in the Trenches ---> Ever heard about the "Christmas truce"? If not, go look it up. The lyrics for this one is just powerful.
Jussi Björling - O Helga Natt ---> The Swedish version of "Oh Holy Night". My mother's favourite Christmas song, and it is quite the evocative version of the song if you like this kind of thing.
The Pogues - Fairytale of New York
Tom Waits - Christmas Card From a Hooker in Minneapolis ---> Not really a Christmas song per se, but I still love it. It has 'Christmas in the title, so it counts.
Have a very scary Christmas - carols inspired by the Cthulu-mytos and other horror-stories:
A Very Scary Solstice - It's Beginning to Look a lot Like Fish-men ---> This is a major favourite in the household - around Yuletide you'll hear a lot of half-mumbled, half-sung "fish-men!" around here.
A Very Scary Solstice - Carol of the Old Ones
Tales From the Crypt - 12 Days of Christmas ---> A somewhat ...different... take on the 12 Days of Christmas.
Safety-pins & needles - it's gonna be a punk-rock Christmas this year:
Unknown - White Christmas ---> The song from the Coca Cola commercial. Does anyone know who's singing?
Sex Pistols - Punk Rock Christmas
The Ramones - Punk Rock Christmas
Rocking around the Christmas tree & having ourselves a heavy metal holiday:
Trans-Siberian Orchestra - A Mad Russian's Christmas ---> If I'd had the time, I'd most likely post a lot more by TSO. They are my favourite band this time of year after all. But enjoy the small selection anyway.
Trans-Siberian Orchestra - Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24
Trans-Siberian Orchestra - Christmas Canon
Trans-Siberian Orchestra - Christmas Canon Rock
Trans-Siberian Orchestra - Appalachian Snowfall
Trans-Siberian Orchestra - Wizards in Winter
Trans-Siberian Orchestra - Wish Liszt (Toy Shop Madness)
Zakk Wylde - White Christmas
Bruce Kulick - We Wish You a Merry Christmas
Lemmy - Run, Run Rudolph
Dio - God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
Ripper Owens - Santa Claus is Back in Town
Tom Keifer - Blue Christmas
Billy Idol - Christmas Love
Every Mother's Nightmare - Won't Be Home For Christmas
Korn - Kidnap the Sandy Claws
AC/DC - Mistress for Christmas
Gatsby's American Dream - Saint Nicholas ---> This one almost went in the 'silly' category. It makes me giggle.
Linkin Park - My December ---> Yes, yes. I know, it's LP. Don't even ask. The song's cute.
Skindred - Jungle Bells ---> Reggae metal. Listen, yo. It's funny, and way too catchy.
The Used - Alone This Holiday
Silly, stupid and perverted - not necessarily at the same time, but the more, the better:
Arrogant Worms - The Same Christmas Cake
Bob Rivers - Chipmunks Roasting on an Open Fire
Irish Rovers - Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer
Irish Rovers - Miss Fogarty's Christmas Cake
Red Sovine - You Ain't Gettin' Shit for Christmas
South Park - Christmas Time in Hell
South Park - Merry Fucking Christmas
Tom Waits & Peter Murphy - Christmas Sucks!
Weird Al - The Night Santa Went Crazy
Monty Python - Ho Ho Fucking Ho
Kevin Bloody Wilson - Hey, Santa Claus You Fucking Cunt
Joe Diffie - Leroy, the Redneck Reindeer
Bob Rivers - Walking 'Round in Women's Underwear
Normal brain-bleach - the tolerable carols:
Gregorian - Amazing Grace
Gregorian - Ave Maria
Enya - Silent Night (Irish Gaelic Ver.)
Irish Rovers - Christmas in Killarney
